by trueclef, 01/19/10 05:06:01

Below is information regarding the 2010 release of some of the year most anticipated albums:

D’Angelo Title TBA (J Records)

Release Date: TBA

D’Angelo’s contract with Virgin Records was bought out by Clive Davis, chairman of J Records which also employs Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Leona Lewis, Whitney Houston & Jazmine Sullivan. This is a huge deal. Clive believes in this man and so do I. D’Angelo is currently finishing up the recording process. The project is late, was suppose to be released sometime last year so expect a first or second quarter release date to be announced.

Mariah Carey “Angels Advocate” (Def Jam)

Release Date: March 9th 2009

Mariah’s new album is a re-release of the epic testament to r&b that is “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel”, released 9/29/09. This new version is expected to include the current album as well as remixes featuring the likes of Mary J Blige, The Dream, Ne-Yo, R Kelly & Snoop Dogg. The current album has been certified gold by the RIAA but Mariah hopes to render sells figures more comparable to her 2005 album, “The Emancipation of Mimi” which shifted in excess of 10 million copies worldwide.

Jennifer Lopez, “Love?” (Epic)
Release Date: April 2010

Talk about a long lead time-promotion for Jennifer Lopez’s ”Love?” began last year, with the Pitbull collaboration “Fresh Out the Oven” leaked online and to clubs. The song, likely to be offered as a bonus track, is much more urban in feel than the rest of “Love?,” which has a modern electro/dance vibe that contrasts with the slightly retro feel of 2007’s “Brave.” The album is timed with the release of Lopez’s next film, “The Back-Up Plan,” with discussions under way to include music from “Love?” in the movie. First single “Louboutins” was sent to radio in the fall, timed to Lopez’s TV performances beginning with the American Music Awards. Look for Lopez to wear Louboutins designs for her promotional appearances; plans are in the works for radio contest shoe giveaways and appearances at the designer’s boutiques. On the album, Lopez sings, talk-sings and broods (within pop reason) on the subject of love over soaring synths and prominent beats. Typical are the Wynter Gordon-written “Starting Over,” produced by Danja, and “What Is Love,” produced by D’Mile. Another highlight is “Everybody’s Girl,” a pulsating drum-driven track produced by Mike Caren and written by Gordon.

Drake, “Thank Me Later” (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown)
Release Date: March 2010

Drake has already picked up two Grammy nominations, and he doesn’t even have an album out yet. But the former child actor plans on changing that soon. His highly anticipated debut set features production from the likes of Omen and longtime collaborator Noah “40″ Shebib. Guest features include Jay-Z, Kanye West and Young Money label chief Lil Wayne, and he hopes to team with Sade as well. Tracks lined up include “Shut It Down,” featuring the Dream, which Drake describes as “a song for the non-famous woman to feel special and know that even though I’m up here and have the option to mingle with these ‘upper echelon’ women, sometimes I’d rather be with the girl from back home or a student or a girl that works at Walmart. It’s an empowering song for all women.” Another track that will make the cut is the album’s intro, “Fireworks.”

Beyonce “Virtuoso Intellect”? (Columbia/MusicWorld)

Release: 4th Quarter 2010

Beyonce thoroughly did the damn thing in late 08 and throughout 2009! She topped the Hot 100 with her hit “Single Ladies”and shifted nearly 5 million copies of her 3rd studio album “I Am Sasha Fierce”. With this new album, I’m hoping she returns to form.. gives us something comparable to the thundering declaration of superiority that was “B’Day”.. The pressure is on to follow up these 2 albums.. She will take a 6 month hiatus from recording but expect her to return to the studio in June to put the finishing touches on the album she really started recording during the “I Am” Tour.. During this break EVERY OTHER FEMALE ON THIS LIST needs to have completed, promoted and sold as many copies of there album as possible. When Beyonce returns she’s going to be out for blood, as she always is..

Amy Winehouse (working title) (Island Records Group)

Release date: TBA

Amy Winehouse is expected to return to the studio this year. Her 2nd album and american debut “Back To Black” earned her 5 grammies and the respect of the industry. She’s since then lost most of that respect by appearing in the public eye under the influence of drugs or alcohol on a extremely regular basis. Her career and ultimate survival depend on the success of her next album and it’s campaign. I feel this artist is one destined to die young. I hate to say that but her ways are hauntingly indicative of icons like Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.. I hope she doesn’t share there fate.

I can’t wait to hear the new music, it’ll be nice to get at least one more album!

Maroon 5, Title TBD (A&M Octone)
Release Date: April 2010

Maroon 5 headed to Switzerland to record the follow-up to 2007’s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,” with producer Mutt Lange. Despite rumors of Lange’s quirkiness, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael says the reclusive knob-twirler was “friendly and personable,” although he adds that Lange “pushed us really hard.” Carmichael adds that the result is a collection of songs that sounds “more organic, almost closer to our first record than the last. You can really hear our personalities.” The final track lis has yet to be set, but Carmichael reassures fans that “the songs that will probably be the first singles are my favorite tracks.”

Kelis

“Flesh Tone” (working title) (will.i.am/Interscope)
Release Date: Spring 2010

Following a tumultuous year that included a highly publicized divorce from rapper Nas, the birth of her first child and numerous family court hearings, Kelis is finally back with a new label home, a new album and a new sound. Now signed to Interscope Records through Will.i.am Music Group, she premiered the single “Acapella”-her first new material since 2006’s “Kelis Was Here”-online in November. On the track, produced by David Guetta and inspired by her son, the New York-raised singer/songwriter takes her hip-hop-driven style in a more electronic/dance direction. Other songs on the anticipated eight-song project include “4th of July,” produced by DJ Ammo; “Kids,” inspired by homosexual clubgoers; the acoustic-guitar based “Carefree American,” produced by Jean Baptiste; and “Alive,” helmed by Diplo. Kelis is currently in the studio with label head Will.i.am.

Jamie Foxx ”Body” (working title) (J Records)

Release Date: March 2010

On Jamie Foxx’s last single he suggested that listeners blame their shortcomings on “the alcohol.” Now he’s offering even more questionable advice: recommending they quit their jobs altogether. “Quit Your Job” is the title of the potential first single off Foxx’s new album, tentatively titled “Body.” Helmed by Carlos “Los De Mystro” McKinney and The Dream, “Quit Your Job” finds Foxx playfully chanting, “I never had a girl like this/She fix me pancakes, she knows how to bake/I wanna be the one that’s by your side/I wanna be the **** that says goodnight,” over a nursery rhyme-like, piano-laden production. Other songs slated to make the album include “Winner,” produced by and featuring Justin Timberlake and rumored to have a guest spot from Jay-Z; the love song “Rejoice,” by Raheem DeVaughn; the club track “Straight to the Dance Floor,” on which Foxx sings, “I got my hands on my nuts and my bottle in the air”; the R Kelly-esque ballad “Split Personality”; and the recently released street track, “Speak French.”

Toni Braxton, “Pulse” (Atlantic)

Release Date: March 2010

After suffering from a heart disease-related illness in 2008, R&B singer Toni Braxton says she “didn’t think I’d ever be able to do music again.” But a conversation during cardiac rehabilitation with an upbeat elderly female patient who had survived four heart attacks helped motivate the singer to continue performing.

“That’s when I found my pulse again,” Braxton says, noting that her forthcoming album, “Pulse,” is “sexy,” “fun” and “testimonial.” The first single from the set-her debut on Atlantic Records-is the sensuous “Yesterday,” featuring Trey Songz. Braxton also tapped blue-eyed-soul crooner Robin Thicke for the romantic track “Don’t Leave.” “We’ve got this argument and we both realize we were wrong,” she says about the song, “and we’re begging each other to try and work it out.”

Other favorites are the R&B-meets-country “If I Have to Wait” and the title track. Producers include Harvey Mason, Ne-Yo and Rodney Jerkins, says Braxton, who adds that she’ll tour behind “Pulse” in the United States by late spring.

Fantasia, Title TBD (J/RCA Music Group)
Release Date: March 2010

When Fantasia’s VH1 reality series, “Fantasia for Real,” premiered Jan. 11, it included footage of her working on her third studio album. The as-yet-untitled CD will capture the melodic storytelling qualities of earlier Fantasia hits like “Truth Is” and “When I See You,” reflecting the pain and tears of relationship turbulence. “We want to honor that sound,” RCA/Jive Label Group senior VP of A&R Keith Naftaly says. “But Fantasia is very much a warm, fun-loving spirit. So there is a lot of optimism and triumph on the album as well.” The songwriter and producer lineup includes Carlos “Los Da Mystro” McKinney and Rico Love, Chris “Tricky” Stewart, Novel, Jim Jonsin and Claude Kelly, whom, Naftaly says, has an “amazing way of decoding things in Fantasia’s head and turning them into incredible songs.” Missy Elliot and John Legend pitch in with songs as well. Recorded tracks range from “Can’t Be Without You,” a reimagination of Dorothy Moore’s 1976 R&B/pop hit “Misty Blue,” to the Lauryn Hill-influenced “Trust Him” and “The Thrill Is Gone” (not the B.B King classic), featuring Cee-lo. Also on tap, Naftaly adds, is a rock song that “will enable Fantasia to unleash her inner Tina Turner.”

Christina Aguilera, Title TBD (RCA)

Release Date: April 2010

Recorded in her home studio, Christina Aguilera’s as-yet-untitled fourth studio album shows her dabbling in rap and dance and boasts an intriguing array of collaborators: Lindy Perry, Sia Furler & Sam Dixon, Chris “Tricky” Stewart & Claude Kelly, Santigold, M.I.A, John Hill & David Switch Ladytron and Le Tigre. The album will also have empowering ballads, including the Perry-produced “Lift Me Up.” The project is a departure from 2006’s “Back to Basics”-a soul- and hip-hop-fusing tribute to such inspirations as Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Billie Holiday that spun off the No. 6 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Ain’t No Other Man” and has sold 1.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Aguilera will make her feature-film debut later this year in the dramatic musical “Burlesque.” Slated for release at Thanksgiving, the film also stars Cher, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci and Julianne Hough.

Kanye West, Title TBA (Roc-A-Fella)

Release Date: Mid 2010

Mr West had originally planned on having a new album ready by 4th quarter 2009 and releasing the first singles around this time but overwhelming demand for his productions on Jay-Z and Rihanna’s current projects greatly detoured him. Kanye spent much of the year helping construct “The Blueprint III” and Rihanna’s “Rated R” which is scheduled to hit stored November 23rd!

Now that those two are pretty much taken care of he can turn his attention back to his much anticipated 5th studio album which is still untitled. The following artist are rumored to make appearances on the new album:

* Rihanna

* Lady Gaga

* Jay-Z

* Kid Cudi

* Drake

* Soulja Boy

* J Cole

* Lil Wayne

Beyonce is also rumored to have a featuring role on the new album but that’s still speculation at this point.

The hard details are still under wraps but we should start hearing new music by early 2010! It may be a bit longer than anticipated given extremely negative reactions to him slaying Taylor Swift at the VMAs last month… So negative that he had to cancel his appearance with Lady Gaga on the “Fame Kills” Tour which has been retitled and will now feature Kid Cudi instead…

Jazmine Sullivan, Title “Vanity 6″ (J Records)
Release Date: Summer 2010

Jazmine Sullivan is one album into her promising music career but the singer/songwriter is already well aware of the disadvantages of being a celebrity. “Come on y’all, let’s be real/Never spoke to me till I got a deal/You don’t know me but you do me favors/I don’t know you so I see you later,” the sassy 21-year-old songstress sings on “Blow,” a track scheduled for her upcoming sophomore album. “Vanity Six,” produced by Carlos “Los Da Mystro” McKinney, is an ode to Prince. “Just play my favorite song, get my ‘86 on/Don’t make me wait too long, just play my favorite song/I’ll get my Vanity Six on,” she chants over drums and horns. “You Get on My Nerves,” produced by Ne-Yo, finds Sullivan smugly pointing out to an ex-lover, “You should never have to call pretending/You should have known I was done when I busted your windows,” in reference to her 2009 hit single, “Bust Your Windows.”
